About us

How it all began

We are a family of free spirits who desire to experience the things we dream about, and in our case traveling had always been part of that. We've had the privilege of living in Central Africa in 2008-2010 and to be honest being back home in the Netherlands... it never really 'clicked' again, even though we traveled during summer holidays. We had been playing with ideas and options and then in June 2014 both Taco and Petra had the same thought at the same time: "How about if we would go travel for a year as a family?!" It took some time to get used to the idea, but then it was as if it had always been there. It was so normal to us that we were surprised we had never seriously considered it before. And so we decided to take the leap and live our dream. Arranging matters with work, subletting our house, planning the adventure, buying tickets, kissing family and friends goodbye. And in December 2014 we left for our trip around the world. Two months south Africa, three months New Zealand,
two months Hawaii and California and then again three months South Africa.

In October 2015 we returned to our 'normal' live in The Netherlands, but we still feel itchy and still dream and plan for our next adventure. Petra's mom once said about our family: "The way I look at you is that you are like artists, you need your art first, and then food, sleep and all the other things. And for you guys that art is travel" She might be very right about that.
