The Top 10 Things To Do In Montagu

This evening is our last evening in Montagu. Most people who come to visit Montagu only stay for one or two nights and only get a glimpse of life here in the Little Karoo. That is really a shame as this place has plenty of reasons to stay a little bit longer. We stayed here for two weeks and we loved every minute of it. We met wonderful local people and realized that many of them used to live in places like Cape Town, but have moved to Montagu to escape the hustle and bustle of big cities and live a much more relaxed life here. The Milky Way is back

Last night I was reading an article about a South African photographer, Ian van Straaten. He lives here in the Karoo and he has made it his mission to show the world the Milky Way. According to this interview about 80% of the world population will never see the Milky Way in their life, due to light pollution from cities. Ian has made it his mission to show the world the Milky Way and he gets up every night, drives around the Karoo and takes pictures of the sky filled with stars.
